Second year...DONE!

I just successfully completed my second year of college! It is almost too unreal that I am at this point already. Sometimes it feels like high school was just a few months ago.

I am a JUNIOR in college now!

I have been so incredibly blessed this semester. It has been surprisingly a piece of cake considering the 10 hours of council I did per week for the entire semester.

Now let me explain a little bit about council...

Student Support Council:

So after being an I-Rep at the beginning of this semester, I felt a strong impression that I needed to be on Council. Student Support Council pretty much runs the show of all the volunteers-I-Team Leaders, I-Reps, Student Ambassadors, Student Associations, SRC and Involvement Reps.

I had the amazing opportunity and blessing to be on the Involvement Council as the Promotions Coordinator. I loved our little council of only 9. We became close from the very first day at Council Retreat the first weekend of the semester. I have loved spending so much of my time with these people everyday. They are so fun and they really brought the spirit more into my life and throughout the semester. One thing really great was that we would end each day at the office with a kneeling prayer. The Lord's hand was definitely in our program as we carried out all of our activities and events. It was such a blessing to be a part of it and I hope to always be apart of it throughout the rest of my time at BYU-Idaho and I encourage everyone else to prayerfully consider volunteering!

My classes were fantastic this semester. I learned so much and so many different skills that will definitely help me with my major. I really enjoyed my visual media class and loved learning how to design on programs like Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop. I also liked my public speaking class which helped me develop better techniques and skills in being a good communicator and presenter in front of an audience. My scripture study class was also a great learning experience. I have been looking forward to taking this class for a few semesters now and I was glad to have had such a wonderful teacher to teach it as well. I am grateful for the many new techniques I learned and practiced in reading my scriptures and learning how to study better.

I had amazing roommates this semester! We had so many crazy but great times in our apartment! We bonded through very unique ways but we got along well and really never had many problems. It was also so great to be roommates with my cousin, Maria this semester! It's always nice to have some family close by.

I LOVED my room-roommate Jen! She is seriously the greatest girl you will ever meet and I was way lucky to have her as a roommate. We are already planning to live with each other again in the Fall at THE WILLOWS...which we are way excited about! If you want to know more about The Willows, the new women's complex that is being built by Fall 2012, here is the website!

We took a tour of the place a few weeks ago and completely fell in love with the apartments from the moment we walked in. The apartments feel so homey and I love the layout and the location and just everything about it. Seriously cannot wait to be back up here again.

My boyfriend, Austin, has obviously been a huge part of my semester. We've been good friends since the very first day that I got back for winter semester and luckily had a class, Light and Sound, together. He's been there for me all throughout this semester and I am way luckily to have him in my life! We've gone on so many fun adventures and have tried so many new things! We can relate to each other in so many ways and we always seem to be on the same wave length all the time, always understanding each other eye to eye. My love for him has grown immensely and he makes me entirely and completely happy.

I am glad the semester is over and that I've been able to accomplish so much but I am sad to be leaving Rexburg. I have come to love this place more and more and it's not only because of the experiences I've had and the people that I have met here. I have come to love the simplicity of life in this little town of Rexburg and even this little state of Idaho. I never thought I'd be going to college in potato land and it's been such a huge culture shock but I am a traveler with a fascination of cultures and the different ways people live their everyday lives. I love new experiences and gaining new skills. Being here in Idaho has given me that opportunity. I am always up for the NEW!

I am looking forward to going home to San Diego though. I have missed the BMB and my family and the sun and the beach. I hope to get a job and I hope to save up a lot of money! I hope to take advantage of the wonderful weather. I hope to spend a lot of time with my family especially since my brother is back from his mission now. I hope to continually grow and prepare myself for what is to come in the future!
