april: in review

As April comes to an end, I just want to reflect on some great things that have happened and that I've been enjoying recently this past month.

1. The coming of spring.
But what the heck Missouri, make up your mind! We have had all sorts of weather this past month from tornado warnings, floods, sunshine, rain, rain, more rain, muggy, rain, rain...you get the idea. I am just excited that there is no more snow on the ground and we can finally start doing fun activities outside more!

its been nice enough outside for us to eat at our favorite restaurant in downtown st. charles!
luckily, they still have warm fire pits you can sit next to.

2. I got a bike!
Austin loves biking and I enjoy it too. With nice weather rolling in, we wanted to get myself a bike so we can hit up the popular Katy Trail. Austin spent several days cleaning up his bike after letting it sit through all of the snow storms on our deck outside. We found the perfect bike for myself at Walmart and I love it! It is a Mongoose magenta pinkish colored mountain bike. Perfect size for me and it rides nice. Can't wait to go biking more and getting some outdoor exercise!

3. We got Netflix.
Well, at least a month of a free trial. We have been loving it and all the shows we've been getting into! We love the James Bond movies from Sean Connery to Daniel Craig. We have been watching some episodes of Sherlock which we think are awesome! And we have been watching the first season of 24 which STRESSES me out because of all the suspense but it is nevertheless addicting and really thrilling to watch. We don't know if we will keep it our not but we sure are enjoying it while we can!

4. We LOVE cooking together!
This isn't something I've recently discovered but we have just been brewing up some recipes that rock. We are nailing down our red thai curry recipe and we try to make something new every week.

5. Work is going great.
Austin & I love our jobs. Austin is in his dream job and he enjoys the people he works with. He loves being a nerd and getting paid for it! I am really grateful for the many new responsibilities I get to have. I love learning about the house-buying process and it is really educating me and preparing us for when we start looking for a home soon! Surveying is such an interesting thing and I am enjoying learning about the process. I am so grateful Austin & I both have jobs and that we can work together to build up our finances.

post-it notes are essential!

6. My callings are a lot of work but a lot of fun.
Austin & I teach the CTR 4 kids in our ward and it is a lot of work! It is hard to keep their attention but it is so sweet to get to teach them while they are so young. They are all so cute and are definitely willing to learn. Its just all about keeping their attention focused! Austin's other calling is the 11 year old scout leader. I think he is really enjoying it and helping those boys prepare to get the priesthood and come closer to their eagle scout step by step. My other calling is an Activity Days leader. It has been so long since I was in Activity Days myself so I still have a lot of learning to do. It is pretty fun though and we have done some fun activities the past few months! I am excited to teach them and their moms tomorrow how to make fabric flower hair clips like we did at Retreat For Girls. Such a fun and cute project. We will also be making felt finger puppets for the primary classes as a service project.

here is a picture of some of the girls with their mustaches they won from the tape ball game:
(so funny!)

Its been a great month and I am looking forward to what comes to us here in Missouri as we get better weather and have more fun times!
